VOI Kiwengwa Resort

HOTEL OVERVIEW

One of Zanzibar’s Best-Loved Beachfront All-Inclusive Resorts

VOI Kiwengwa Resort is one of the most popular and best-selling beach resorts on Zanzibar’s scenic East Coast, thanks to its unbeatable combination of value, location, and authentic island atmosphere. Set along the long, powder-white sands of Kiwengwa Beach — one of the most famous beaches in Zanzibar — the resort offers stunning ocean views, turquoise lagoon waters, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe that appeals to couples, families, honeymooners, and groups alike.

Blending modern comforts with Swahili-inspired design, VOI Kiwengwa features beautifully landscaped gardens, open-air lounges, palm-shaded walkways, and a wide range of rooms designed for both comfort and affordability. Its all-inclusive package is one of the best on the island, offering generous dining options, themed buffets, tropical cocktails, snacks throughout the day, and an easy, stress-free holiday experience — one of the key reasons travellers return year after year.

The resort’s best feature though, is its location: a stretch of beach that becomes a breathtaking, perfectly swimmable sea at high tide and reveals wide sand flats perfect for long walks at low tide. Guests enjoy direct access to Kiwengwa’s soft sands, along with a large central pool, beach loungers, and plenty of space to relax. VOI Kiwengwa also offers excellent entertainment and activities, including beach volleyball, aqua gym, yoga, water sports, and evening shows — ideal for travellers who enjoy a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. For those seeking deeper relaxation, the resort’s spa provides soothing massages, beauty treatments, and moments of calm away from the buzz of daily life. Families love the dedicated kids’ club, friendly staff, and wide, safe beach. Couples appreciate the romantic ocean views, sunset strolls, and intimate corners of the property.

Useful Info

  • What To Pack

As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.

Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the island (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!

  • Take Your Own

Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.

Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).

Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though your resort will have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.

Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

  • Travel Tips

Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your resort). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.

Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.

It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re going overseas.
