Nungwi Beach Resort

HOTEL OVERVIEW

Nungwi Beach Resort by Turaco is a standout choice for travellers seeking a stylish, modern and well-serviced beach escape on Zanzibar’s famous North Coast. Set directly on Nungwi’s powder-soft sand and overlooking some of the clearest turquoise water on the island, this upscale resort blends contemporary comfort with the relaxed tropical charm that makes Zanzibar such a sought-after destination. Its prime beachfront location is one of its biggest draws — unlike much of the East Coast, Nungwi’s beach is non-tidal, meaning you can swim in the warm Indian Ocean at any time of day, making it ideal for families, honeymooners, and beach lovers alike.

The resort offers spacious, beautifully furnished rooms with private balconies or terraces, many boasting sweeping ocean or garden views. Guests can enjoy two large pools (including one beachfront), multiple dining options featuring international and Swahili cuisine, a modern fitness centre, and a serene spa offering massages and beauty rituals inspired by island botanicals. The beachfront bar is a highlight at sunset, where chilled music and handcrafted cocktails set the tone for relaxed island evenings.

Nungwi Beach Resort by Turaco is also perfectly positioned for adventure, with world-class diving, snorkelling, dhow cruises, and turtle conservation experiences just steps away. The resort’s exceptional staff, warm Zanzibari hospitality, and consistent high reviews make it one of the most reliable and best-selling properties in Nungwi. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a family holiday, or an easygoing beach break, this resort offers excellent value, premium facilities, and one of the most desirable beachfronts in Zanzibar — truly a winning choice for your island escape.

Useful Info

  • What To Pack

As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.

Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the island (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!

  • Take Your Own

Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.

Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).

Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though your resort will have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.

Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

  • Travel Tips

Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your resort). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.

Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.

It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re going overseas.
