Canelands Beach Club & Spa - Salt Rock
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Where Coastal Chic Meets Barefoot Bliss on Salt Rock’s Shores. Nestled along the pristine beachfront of Salt Rock on KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast, Canelands Beach Club & Spa is an intimate 10-room boutique hotel offering barefoot luxury, warm hospitality, and the ultimate in oceanside serenity. With uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean and a laid-back yet elegant atmosphere, this is where beach holidays come to life – whether you're escaping for romance, a special celebration, or simply to recharge.
From the moment you arrive, the sound of crashing waves and the scent of salty sea air invite you to slow down and soak it all in. The hotel opens directly onto the beach – no road, no fence, no crowds – just soft sand and surf a few steps from your suite. Each of the rooms is stylishly designed with coastal tones, plush linens, and modern finishes, and many offer panoramic sea views that are nothing short of hypnotic.
Days at Canelands are effortless. Enjoy long, lazy breakfasts on the deck as dolphins glide past, followed by a dip in the ocean-facing rim-flow pool or a soothing massage at the onsite spa. Prefer something more active? The location is perfect for exploring the Dolphin Coast, from local markets and craft breweries to mountain biking trails and golf courses nearby.
The Two Shrimps Restaurant is a local gem, serving up fresh, seasonal dishes with a creative twist – from seafood platters to gourmet burgers – all best enjoyed with your feet in the sand and a chilled glass in hand. Whether you’re dining alfresco or inside with floor-to-ceiling ocean views, every meal is accompanied by that signature Salt Rock sea breeze.
Perfect for romantic getaways, intimate weddings, small groups, or solo soul-searching escapes, Canelands Beach Club & Spa offers the charm of a boutique retreat with the personalised service and attention to detail that makes every guest feel like a VIP.

What To Pack
As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.
Take along your best safari and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a safari bag. If you’re planning on partaking in any walking safaris, be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of sun-cream!
-
Take Your Own
Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.
Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).
Take along your own pair of binoculars and a good camera (with lenses, extra batteries and memory cards) to capture those special wildlife safari moments!
Mosquito repellent and a small personal medical kit are also a must.

Travel Tips
Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare change of cooler clothes so at least you can change into fresh kit when you get to your final destination). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!).
Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.
It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re going overseas.
