Old Drift Lodge – Butterfly’s visit | AFRICAN FUSION TRAVEL | TUESDAY, JULY 3, 2018
I had an awesome trip Old Drift Lodge Victoria Falls , set inside the Zambezi National Park, Victoria Falls on Friday 29 June…. WOW what an awesome spot… the lodge is only a 10 minute transfer by road or boat from Vic Falls town, through the Zambezi National Park. On arrival we had a warm greeting from Tinashe and the team who showed us around the lodge and to our room. That was an adventure on its own, with so much to explore within the rooms. Large, spacious and so well thought out. Each room equipped with a mini –bar, tea coffee station. Separate lounge/reading area, dressing room, en-suite bathroom with private toilet and additional outside shower and bath. Luxurious, bedding, pillows, cushions and bedding! The large sliding doors open to a large patio, each lodge equipped with a private pool and sun loungers!!!!
At 16h30 we were taken on a luxury sunset cruise and explored the animals and bird life along the river, supplied with scrumptious snacks and drinks. Back to the lodge after and enjoyed the lovely OUTSIDE rain-shower, overlooking the Zambezi River. Dinner was an amazing three courses, with a great selection and then coffee and night cap around the camp fire. We selected to wake up for an early morning game drive, and were treated to lovely birds and plenty of game, including close up view of giraffes and hippos out of the water… ending up with coffee and rusks on the banks of the Zambezi. Our guide Ab was excellent and a considerate driver (as we got onto the vehicle we each had a hot water bottle and blanket, which was well received as the early mornings are cold in June/July).
Back to the lodge for breakfast and then sadly time to bid farewell to the Old Drift Lodge Team, all the staff were amazing and I also managed to get Gabriel the chef to have a photo with me.
Thank you to Wild Horizons and the Old Drift Team
