After four days of turn-of-the-century elegance with personalized safari luxury, you’ll bid farewell, leaving by aircraft from Kruger Mpumalanga Airport (Flight not included) for Pretoria. Pretoria is popularly known as The Jacaranda City due to the thousands of Jacaranda trees planted in its streets, parks and gardens. Explore this city steeped in history including the Voortrekker Monument, Church Square and the Union Buildings, the site of the emotionally charged scene which played out at Nelson Mandela’s joyful inauguration as president in 1994.
Mala Mala Game Reserve is the Safari Industry’s blueprint to the luxury photographic safari. In existence since 1927, this massive thriving tract of land produces the most exciting wildlife experience this side of the equator. Mala Mala Game Reserve is the largest private Big Five game reserve in South Africa. Comprising 13 300 ha (33 000 acres), Mala Mala shares a 19 km (12 mile) unfenced border with the world-renowned Kruger National Park, and lies strategically sandwiched between the National Park and the Sabi Sand Reserve. The Land Rover in which you will travel to see game is open – there is no roof, and no doors or windows. There will be a time that the ranger will take the vehicle off-road in order to follow animals and tracks to afford you the best view possible of the animal. Not only do you get to experience wildlife from a vehicle but you also have the opportunity to go on a bush walk. Two guides accompany you on the bush walk – the lead guide on foot, and the backup guide follows in the Land Rover. The aim of the walk is not to have any encounters with large and dangerous wildlife. Instead you will look at things you do not usually experience on game drives, and this includes tracks, birds and vegetation – as well as the other smaller, yet interesting, things.
The Blue Train awaits you at Pretoria Station, and you’ll love the elegance and glamour of the coaches, and royal understatement of everything else, as you board the train, destination Cape Town. The Blue Train is the perfect way to explore South Africa’s beautiful countryside and rich heritage – the ultimate unforgettable indulgence. Butlers, silver trays, welcoming cocktails… The Good Life takes on a new dimension with The Blue Train. En route, we stop for an excursion to Kimberley, where you step back in time to the days of the diamond rush. You’ll feel the feeling, understand the challenges of life then, as you explore the exhibits, and imagine the lives of the adventurers and their families.
Accommodation is in a Deluxe Room and includes all meals, high tea, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and off-train excursions.
A warm welcome to Cape Town, affectionately known as the Mother City! A glorious day at leisure, and the vast and colourful Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is the perfect starting point for your great Cape escape. Explore the many boutiques, enjoy the endless activity of the ships, liners and yachts on their way in and out of the bay, and enjoy a gourmet bite at one of the numerous great restaurants with or without mountain, sea or harbour views. But for the greatest view of all, take the aerial route on the cable car to the top of Table Mountain. Panoramic views of the coastline, the city and beyond – you’ll be on top of the world.
A superb day dedicated to celebrating the glorious grape, the exceptional Winelands region, and the heavenly scenery! The area’s rich with history, and we can’t help but feel it as we move through the region to experience a wine cellar tour and tasting, where you’ll learn all about the process of winemaking, from grape to goblet. We visit the exquisite little town of Franschhoek, pass by the impressive Huguenot Monument, and in a town with a reputation for gourmet fare, where else could we choose to enjoy lunch (for own account). Wind our way to the heady heights of the Helshoogte Mountain Pass to meet the charming university town of Stellenbosch on the other side. Stroll through this little town, absorbing the quaintness, and sneaking into the odd shop or two! Enjoy a wine tasting at two different wine estates where you’ll be able to purchase your favourite wine to take back home!
Cruise along the exquisite stretch of coastline known as Millionaire’s Paradise – from Clifton to Camps Bay, to the exclusive beach hamlet of Llandudno – towards the charming working harbour of Hout Bay. Embark on an up-close-and-personal Seal Island cruise. Wind along the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive, hugging the cliffs and relishing the breath-taking ocean views, before arriving at your lunch spot of choice at the Cape of Good Hope Section of the Table Mountain National Park. We meander back along the coast towards the City, visiting the historic naval port of Simon’s Town and the endearing penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach. You venture inland to your last stop of the day at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. With the sun setting over the tall peaks of Table Mountain the last rays sparkle on the trees and flowers.
Mother Nature surpassed herself when crafting the Mother City. Whether jogging along Sea Point Promenade, climbing up Lion’s Head in the dawn light, clambering over giant boulders at Sandy Bay or driving the amazing coastal roads down to Cape Point, you never fail to feel your spirits soar as you take in the breathtakingly beautiful vistas. You don’t need to break a sweat; sipping wine on a historic farm in Constantia or enjoying a picnic at an outdoor concert in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are equally memorable ways to commune with Cape Town’s great outdoors.
This morning after a sumptuous breakfast you will be collected from your hotel and bid farewell to the beautiful city of Cape Town as you make your way back to Cape Town International Airport to prepare for your onward journey home.
