Leaving for the Namib the following morning not only gives you plenty of time to experience the rolling sand dunes and salt pans of the oldest, driest desert in the world, but also the chance to relish in the pure beauty that surrounds.

This budget-friendly safari in a custom-built vehicle is one not to be missed - giving you an excellent opportunity to take some unforgettable pictures, experience some of the great wonders that Namibia has to offer and over-all a fun-filled adventure!

Day 1 (Thurs)

Pick up this morning is from 7h15 and you will be brought to our ground-handler’s office for a quick pre-departure talk. Departure from Windhoek is at 08h00 and you drive via Okahandja and Usakos to the lagoon at Walvis Bay where you will have a light lunch. Here you’ll see many species of wetland birds, including the greater and lessor Flamingo.

Arriving in Swakopmund mid afternoon you will have time to explore this quaint seaside town on foot and your guide will be happy to recommend a good restaurant for your evening meal (own expense). You will also meet up with the guests coming from Etosha who will join you on your adventure to Sossusvlei. Overnight accommodation on a twin share basis with en-suite facilities.

Day 2 (Fri) - Day 3 (Sat)

Day 2

This morning after breakfast you can join in on an optional activity such as the sand boarding which takes you into the coastal dune fields. You will be picked up from your guesthouse/hotel in Swakopmund at 11:15, (wintertime 10h15) for a brief pre-departure talk. Afterwards you depart, you travel via Kuiseb Pass and Gaub Pass to continue on to Solitaire and your camp. You arrive at your camp late afternoon and have a chance to relax and enjoy the views before taking a short walk
for sunset overlooking the Naukluft Mountain range.

Overnight is based in twin rooms with en-suite bathroom facilities. Dinner prepared by your guide (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3

You depart at dawn from camp to arrive at the park gate for sunrise. You’ll drive down an ancient river bed surrounded by towering dunes to the 2×4 parking (around 55kms) and take a 4×4 shuttle into the Sossusvlei region. You explore this unique area on foot before heading into Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting with a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colours.

As you drive back to your accommodation you will stop at the famous Dune 45 and climb this dune if you wish or just wander around the base. You return to Sesriem and visit the nearby Sesriem Canyon, one of the few permanent water sources before arriving back at your lodge late afternoon to watch the sunset over this spectacular desert.

Overnight in twin share rooms or permanent tents with en-suite bathrooms.

Day 4 (Sun)

After an early breakfast you travel to Solitaire Guest Farm where you join a biologist to track wild cheetah at the N/a’ankuse Namib Conservation Centre. You return to Windhoek via Bullsport and Rehoboth arriving mid-afternoon where you will be dropped at your accommodation. For those that choose to fly today, NO FLIGHTS DEPARTING PRIOR TO 17H00 in case there are unexpected delays returning from safari.
