There are 25 lodge choices at the Sossus Dune Lodges with 23 regular chalets and 2 Honeymoon Suites. They are all connected by a wooden walkway but still private and separate from each other. The chalets are scattered about in a similar style to afro-villages for an authentic African lodging experience… at least from the outside. The lodges are decorated with wooden and leather furnishings, plush beds and suede lounge suite for ultimate comfort in the desert. They wouldn’t want to take the desert away from you, however. Three of the walls are wooden-framed canvas but one is purely glass so you have stunning unspoilt panoramic views of the desert.
The Sossus Dune lodge is known to be environmentally sensitive with all bath and shower products being natural, eco-friendly and safe to use on all types of skins and hair. The lodges are also built from canvas, thatch and wood.
Although not known for excellent cuisine, the restaurant provides basic but satisfying authentic Namibian game dishes, this does not take away from the lovely atmosphere, however, with the bar and restaurant areas being lit by lanterns, a lovely and special ambience not found everywhere else.
There are pool facilities for winding down after your hot and busy day of exploring the dunes; you will want to spend a lot of time here as the pool is crystal clear and the perfect temperature.
Location is of course the most important part of choosing a place to stay and The Sossus Dune Lodge is certainly exquisitely placed. It’s the only lodge in the entirety of the Namib-Naukluft National Park giving you easy and quick access to the famous Sossusvlei Red dunes, a breath-taking natural phenomenon that you most definitely do not want to miss. Being the only lodge in the area makes this a superb candidate for your holiday plan.
The close proximity of the Lodge gives you plenty of time to reach the sunrise and sunset for once in a lifetime photo opportunity.
There are also plenty of guided hikes to choose from provided by the hotel as well as night drives so you can appreciate the dunes all day long.
