Your journey begins at your arrival at O.R Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) which is situated a short 35 kilometres from your hotel. Upon your arrival, you will be transferred off to your accommodation of the Protea Hotel Balalaika. This is your first day of rest where you can go shopping at your will in the big cosmopolitan town of Sandton which is filled to the brim with designer clothing stores and excellent eatery. Alternatively, you can take an optional Soweto Tour (which is on your own account.)
At 07:00 PM in the evening, all travellers will have to meet at reception for a quick briefing of the tour and all of your burning questions about what’s to come will be answered. Meet and greet or “gesels” (as the local Afrikaaners of South Africa call it) with your fellow travellers.
Sit back and relax at the luxurious Protea branded hotel and make use of their high-speed free Wi-Fi, you won’t be having any the next few days!
After your “lekker” rest at the luxurious Protea Hotel, you will then start your long trek to something a little more remote via the towns of Dullstroom and Lyndenburg before passing through the North-Eastern Drakensberg Mountain ranga via Abel Erasmus Pass and the Stardom Tunnel. You will stop somewhere (unfortunately this on your own account) before finally reaching the private game reserve of the Northern Kruger Park. Get ready for more driving with an open 4×4 game drive lead by a qualified, passionate game ranger as well as tracker to show you all the best spots to spot the wildlife. You’ll then return to lodge to chow down on a tasty, filling meal after your big day of driving covering a total of 480 kilometres.
Day 3 kicks off with a morning game drive and another in the afternoon where you will spent the day travelling across the hectares and hectares of private land filled to the brim with wildlife and indigenous vegetation covering a total of 80 kilometres. In between the game drives you can kick up your feet and relax by the pool at the lodge or underneath the shaded lush garden. Finally you end your day with a big feast under the famous starry skies of Africa.
Day 4 is another big day of travelling with your trip from the Northern Kruger National Park to Hazyview, a small farming town in Mpumalanga. You will cover about 180 kilometres on this day, setting off just before sunrise so that you can catch the many hues of reds, oranges and yellows of the morning skies while you search for an elusive nocturnal animal and sip on delicious coffee while dawn breaks in the African bushveld.
After brunch, you will then traverse through the incredible Panorama Route while taking in breathtaking views of the Blyde River Canyon, Lisbon Waterfalls and Gods Window.
In the late afternoon, you will then head to your hotel’s location at Perrys Bridge Hollow Boutique Hotel where you can indulge in a big heart feast for dinner as a fine reward for your busy day.
On the dawn of the final day you’ll set off before breakfast for a morning of hunting out the big 5 and soaking up the stunning views of wild birdlife and the the vegetation that surrounds alternatively, guests can choose to spend the morning interacting with elephants. You’ll be back at your lodge in time for lunch and the rest of the afternoon is all at your leisure to breathe in the fresh, wild air and take a dip in the sparkling pool and say your goodbyes to the park before venturing back to Johannesburg for a long trek of 420 kilometres.
