Romantics and honeymooners should book one of the two Honeymoon Suites – be sure to try your alfresco bathtub with a view.
Ruckomechi also offers a sleep-out option for adventurous guests on an outdoor deck overlooking the wildlife-rich Parachute Pan, situated about 400m from the main camp. Low wooden walkways connect the chalets at Ruckomechi to the very airy and open main area which, through the use of local materials, really blends in well with its surroundings. Here guests will find a dining room where evening meals are often taken around the large dining table. There is also a bar, a library and a relaxed lounge, from where the view of the Zambezi escarpment can really be appreciated.
Mana Pools National Park lies at the heart of the Zambezi Valley, a remote, beautiful place with spectacular views. The camp vegetation is dominated by broad canopied albida trees, much loved by elephants for their rich nutritious pods; these animals often join visitors in camp for a light meal!
The area is renowned for large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo and eland, especially in the winter when they concentrate along the river. Predators such as lion, leopard and wild dog are all found in the area. Birdlife is superb, particularly for both mopane woodland and riverine species with numerous local specials like Collared Palm-Thrush, Racket-tailed Roller, Purple-banded Sunbird and Black-throated Wattle-Eyes.
