Dining & Entertainment

Famous for their delicious baked goods, preserves, and orchards, Jan Harmsgat’s “Just Amy” restaurant (named after Amy Kleinhans, Miss South Africa 1992) provides an award-winning dining experience. All overnight guests are treated to a Jan Harmsgat Breakfast, which includes fresh fruit parfait topped with homemade muesli and yoghurt, followed by hot breakfast of their choice, freshly squeezed juice and fresh brewed coffee or tea.

Lunch and dinner menu changes frequently as the kitchen utilizes fresh produce grown in its own garden. Diners are sure to be pleased with choices such as the rack of lamb, grilled duck breast with an orange and apricot sauce, aged beef fillet, or our famous slow roasted lamb shank. All pastas are handmade and salad is picked fresh daily.

It is often said dessert should be eaten first, for it is not to be missed. Pecan pie is a speciality made with the organically grown pecans from the farm and topped with homemade ice cream.

The owners and team are proud to bring you their Fourth Vintage of the JHG Collection. Their philosophy is to create delicious single-block wines, which are the smallest production unit for vineyards and may not exceed six hectares per cultivar.

Since 1723, Jan Harmsgat Farm or JHG, is situated on the most southern tip of the Robertson Wine valley along the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains. The Farm’s unique position borders both the dry climate of the Little Karoo as well as the Mediterranean cool sea breezes from the Coastal Regions.

The direction of planting runs east to west. The JHG vinification process is conducted with minimal interference, using spontaneous fermentation and zero enzymes, thus sediment may occur. Highlighting the vineyard’s unique characteristics, maturation takes place in neutral vessels. We invite wine lovers worldwide to taste the beauty of this valley!

The tranquil country setting that surrounds all of Jan Harmsgat offers guests not only the peace to revitalize their spirit, but also a variety of wholesome activities to indulge in an authentic country ambience and history.

Jan Harsmgat is also known for its child-friendly facilities.

Join the team on a Backlands Farm Tour and enjoy a sunset picnic and wine tasting in the countryside, or take a drive through the winelands and explore nature reserves, hiking trails or roadside stalls and shops.

During summer guests can cool off in the crisp pool or enjoy some refreshments under the Pecan Nut trees.
