Raffles Seychelles - Praslin Island

HOTEL OVERVIEW

This 86 all-villa luxury resort is “stacked” up along the north-eastern slopes of Praslin, quite vastly spread out giving you ultimate tranquility, and offers its guests 5-star service and a wonderfully large array of facilities, including the biggest pool in the Seychelles.

Located on the north-eastern side of Praslin above the narrow beach of Anse Takamaka, reaching the property is possible by helicopter transfer, domestic flights on Air Seychelles, or opt for the most cost-effective and exciting option, a long yet tantalizing 3-hour journey crossing. In view of the resort is Curieuse Island, which is situated within a marine national park - exceptional for snorkelling and diving.

The resort offers an array of services and facilities, including a 24-hour butler service for the larger one- and two-bedroom villas. The spa has 13 pavilions, a sauna, steam room, soaking pool, yoga pavilion and a beauty salon. The lovely beach is a wonderful spot to rest and sip on unlimited cocktails, and non-motorised watersports are offered free of charge. Other activities such as diving, golf and excursions to the Vallée de Mai can be organised by the efficient front desk.

At 125-metres-squared even the smallest garden view villas are huge. They then ascend the categories through bayview, oceanview, pool and panoramic villas to the largest of them all the two-bedroom, two-bathroom Royal Beachfront Villa, which also has a living and dining room. They are all sumptuously appointed with king-sized beds, dressing rooms, indoor and outdoor showers and soaking tubs situated beneath picture windows offering stunning views.

The main Losean Restaurant where breakfast is served offers stunning views and good food. In the morning, the sun streams in the east-facing windows, giving exceptional feelings of holiday-mode, but if it gets too hot for you, there is a lovely air-conditioned interior should you wish to give the hot terrace a miss until it cools down! The buffet is vast and includes Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, European and English dishes. Dinner, often themed, is also served here. More romantic is the open-air, pan-Asian Curieuse Restaurant, which includes a Sushi Bar in a glass-sided room that feels cosy and unique. Nicest of all of the venues is the Danzil Lounge which has a sultry atmosphere and serves great cocktails.

This package is based on a 6 night holiday at Raffles plus one night on Mahe.

Useful Info

  • What To Pack

As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.

Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the island (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!

  • Take Your Own

Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.

Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).

Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though your resort will have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.

Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

  • Travel Tips

Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your resort). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.

Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.

It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re going overseas.
