Eased Covid-19 Protocols in Mauritius

PROTOCOLS FOR TRAVEL TO MAURITIUS


Effective 01 July 2022 there are no COVID-related requirements in place for travel between South Africa and Mauritius.
Masks are still required by law for certain flights, in the airport & on transfers – see details below.

 

Vaccinations:

  • As of 01 July 2022 Mauritius now accepts both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers (irrespective of age) without any quarantine period required for arriving unvaccinated travellers.

  • All COVID restrictions relating to arriving tourists have been removed.

  • Note please that travellers who have tested positive for COVID within 7 days of their Mauritius holiday are not permitted to board a flight to Mauritius.

  • It is recommended that passengers visit the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority’s website to complete the required documentation ahead of your departure to Mauritius. Complete the ALL IN ONE TRAVEL FORM to avoid delays at immigration in Mauritius Airport.

THE JOURNEY THERE, AND BACK:

  • Please visit the relevant airline website/s for information pertaining to protocols for your flights:
    Air Mauritius NB: Surgical masks are required for each passenger during the flight irrespective of age.
    South African Airways As of 22 June 2022 wearing a mask is no longer required on SAA flights.
    FlySafair The mask requirements in-flight have not yet been officially adjusted so all passengers must continue to wear masks until this update is announced.

  • NB: Wearing of masks inside the airport terminal is required per Mauritian law.

GETTING TO YOUR HOTEL, AND BACK TO THE AIRPORT:

  • If you have booked transfers as part of your holiday package, a transfer representative will guide you from the arrivals’ hall to the designated transfer vehicle. NB: Masks need to be worn on public transport.

ON ARRIVAL AT THE HOTEL & DURING YOUR STAY:

  • Effective 01 July 2022 the antigen test on arrival at the resort has been removed.

  • Effective 01 July 2022 masks no longer need to be worn at the resort.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:

  • Although travel insurance is optional, it is our recommendation that no passenger travels abroad without adequate travel insurance cover.

  • We are unable to offer advice, nor consult, on matters pertaining to travel insurance, but we recommend that our passengers consider these insurers and speak directly to them for more information:

WHAT IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO RETURN TO SOUTH AFRICA?

  • Following the repeal of COVID-related regulations by the South African Government on 22 June 2022, there is now no COVID-related requirement in place for passengers arriving at a South African border post.
